Green Bay Packers (6-7) 28, Chicago Bears (3-10) 6
Sunday December 3rd 2000 (at Chicago)
(CHICAGO) - Playing turnover-free football and getting an unaccustomed number of big plays from their corps of wide receivers, the Packers flogged the Bears, 28-6, on a Sunday night in the 160th meeting between the ancient adversaries. Bill Schroeder continued his strong late-season level of play with six catches for 119 yards, and the defense confused backup quarterback Shane Matthews into a nightmarish performance, including an interception that was returned 38 yards by Tyrone Williams for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. The victory extended the Packers' winning streak at Soldier Field to seven games, the longest by either side on the other's field in the 79-year-old series. Brett Favre was 19-of-31 for 225 yards and a touchdown. In the process, he added another record to his impressive resume with a little help from his supporting cast. Ahead 7-3 in the second quarter, a 33-yard pass to Bill Schroeder put Favre over the 3,000-yard mark for the ninth-consecutive season, which ties the league mark set by Dan Marino.
