Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-4) 20, Green Bay Packers (4-6) 15
Sunday November 12th 2000 (at Tampa Bay)
(TAMPA BAY) - The determined, emotional and well-prepared Packers carried a stirring upset bid deep into the second half before bobbles and blunders led to their undoing, 20-15, at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This time, Ahman Green's fumble and Antonio Freeman's inexcusable lack of judgment cost the Packers dearly. The Packers outpointed the Buccaneers by a slight margin in just about every statistical category and actually had the lead, 15-14, early in the fourth quarter on Matt Hasselbeck's 27-yard touchdown pass off a fake field goal to Bubba Franks. But then Santana Dotson blew containment on scrambling Shaun King, enabling Martin Gramatica to attempt, and make, a field goal from 54 yards. When Green fumbled three plays later, Gramatica was true again, this time from 51 yards, and the Packers were finished. Warren Sapp's sack of Favre on third-and-9 in the third quarter left Favre in pain when his left foot got caught under the falling 303-pound defensive tackle. He would not return to the game.
