Green Bay Packers (4-0) 25, Miami Dolphins 17
PRESEASON - Thursday September 2nd 1999 (at Green Bay)
(GREEN BAY) - Undrafted rookie Basil Mitchell caught two second-half touchdown passes and Green Bay used instant replay to negate a touchdown on a kickoff return by Miami. Again relying on a superior cast of reserves, the Packers overcame an 11-0 deficit. Backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck threw two touchdown passes for the Packers, giving him nine for the preseason. Instant replay played a part in tonight's game as Dolphin kick returner Kio Sanford ran back the ensuing kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, only to have the score overturned when the Green Bay coaching staff noticed Sanford's foot stepping on the sideline as he raced by them. The Dolphins lost several players to injury. Miami's more seriously wounded players include safety Calvin Jackson (twisted knee); safety Brock Marion (ligament damage in hand); cornerback Patrick Surtain (groin strain); quarterback Damon Huard (bruised right quadriceps); safety Shawn Wooden (broken right thumb); and enigmatic rookie defensive lineman Dimitrius Underwood (dislocated shoulder)
