Minnesota Vikings (6-6) 23, Green Bay Packers (6-6) 7
Sunday December 2nd 1990 (at Minnesota)
(MINNESOTA) - The great unraveling of the Lindy Infante regime began on a Sunday night in the Metrodome. Anthony Carter's spectacular 56-yard catch, off a trick play sparked Minnesota to its fifth straight victory. The loss by Green Bay enabled Chicago to clinch the NFC Central crown. Minnesota scored 17 points in a 2:54 span of the third period in pulling even with the Packers in the division as both teams chase wildcard spots. The Packers had taken a 7-6 lead 3:21 into the third quarter when Tiger Greene blocked Harry Newsome's punt and went 36 yards for a touchdown. The Vikings responded with a 12-play, 49-yard drive leading to Fuad Reveiz's 41-yard field goal. Reveiz joined the Vikings at the start of the winning streak after Donald Igwebuike encountered legal problems that have led to a federal indictment on charges of heroin smuggling. Reveiz is 7-for-8 on field goals after he was cut by San Diego when he went 5-for-7. Minnesota forced a punt and, on the next play, Rich Gannon handed off to Herschel Walker, who pitched back to Gannon on the fleaflicker. Gannon heaved the ball downfield even though Mark Lee had tight coverage on Carter.
