Green Bay Packers (6-5) 20, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-8) 10
Sunday November 25th 1990 (at Milwaukee)
(MILWAUKEE) - Anthony Dilweg, filling in for the injured Don Majkowski, threw two touchdown passes as the Green Bay Packers beat Tampa Bay 20-10, sending the Buccaneers to their sixth straight loss. Green Bay won its third straight and is over the .500 mark for the first time since defeating the Los Angeles Rams in its season opener behind Dilweg. Tampa Bay has not won since beating the Packers in mid-October, and not even the return of quarterback Vinny Testaverde could shake the Bucs out of their losing streak. Dilweg, now 2-1 as a starter this season, got the call Sunday because Majkowski had a bruised shoulder. He also started the first two games this season after Majkowski ended a 45-day holdout. Dilweg flipped a 2-yard touchdown pass to Michael Haddix on the sixth play of the third quarter, putting the Packers ahead 14-3. The score came after Tampa Bay's Reggie Cobb fumbled on the Bucs' second play of the half and Scott Stephen recovered at the Tampa Bay 18. Chris Jacke's 25-yard field goal increased the Green Bay lead to 17-3 with 4:12 to go in the quarter. Testaverde, benched the previous two weeks because of ineffective play, then moved the Bucs 75 yards in just seven plays with five pass completions, including an 11-yard touchdown pass to Bruce Hill with 53 seconds to go in the third quarter. Dilweg then hit Sterling Sharpe with a 30-yard pass and Darrell Thompson broke loose on a 37-yard run to the Bucs 15. But again the Packers couldn't get a touchdown and Jacke hit another 25-yarder, making it 20-10 with 11:23 remaining.
